Comfy Shoes for Traveling
These shoes were made for walkin’ all over your travel destinations.
Having comfy shoes can easily make or break a vacation. Many times, the best way to fully experience your destination is to walk it, so your feet deserve the absolute best, because we can all get a little moody when our feet are sore. The best advice when packing shoes for a trip is to pack between two and four pairs, and make sure comfortable walking shoes are included. Below are a few highly recommended shoes perfect for an active getaway.
Casual sneakers are often a great fit for city walking, especially in the warmer months. Matching shorts, capris or jeans is easy, and there are plenty of favorite brands to choose from. Check out Keds, Sperry Top-Siders and Ecco for stylish and comfortable shoes that won’t break the bank.
If you’re heading to a beach town or don’t want to deal with sweaty socks, sandals are a great option. However; it’s super important to find sandals with great support and break them in ahead of time to avoid blisters. Whether you’re looking for dressy or sporty, Aerosoles, Ecco and Naot all have great options when you’re constantly on the move. Sandals, along with flats, can often be dressed up or dressed down, making them a versatile option for business or leisure travel.
Traveling in the winter, or to a colder or commonly rainy destination, warrants a bit more protection from the elements. For women, riding boots, rain boots, hiking boots and ankle boots should be considered, depending on your destination and planned activities. Travel + Leisure has a great list of travel-friendly boots, and while some may be a bit pricy, chances are you can get a few years out of them.
Of course, if you’re going to be walking around a city, athletic shoes will always be a solid choice. Brooks, Asics, Nike, Adidas and New Balance all have great running and/or walking shoes for both men and women that pair well with many outfits (if that’s what you’re worried about). However, if you’re travel plans take you into uneven terrain, know that you’ll want to get a pair of hiking boots or shoes. New Balance and Merrell have sturdy and comfortable options for everyone in the family.
And, don’t forget these helpful tips to make sure your feet are taken care of during your next vacation.
- Adults and kids alike should opt for easy slip-on shoes when traveling through the airport. And, keep your feet protected from the dirty floor around security with a good pair of socks.
- Make sure you have quality socks and support and insoles.
- Break in your shoes before you go. Buying shoes the night before a trip and packing them in your suitcase is never a good idea. It’s best to buy the shoes a month or two in advance and wear them as much as possible to avoid painful blisters that could ruin your trip.
