Fast Park Atlanta Pilots New Fast-Charging Capabilities for National Rollout
Introduces Power2Go service to address growing demands of EV drivers
Atlanta, Ga. – Summer 2022 – Fast Park & Relax, a leading airport parking provider with 16 facilities serving some of the nation’s busiest airports, is evolving its electric vehicle charging service to meet increasing customer demand while better reflecting the charging practices of a maturing EV market. The company is piloting its Power2Go service at its facility serving Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), offering a high-powered DC Charger that provides up to 25 percent more power to a vehicle than a 50kW station.
“We knew nearly a decade ago when we first introduced our FastCharge service that providing guests with charging capabilities for their EVs was a great value-added amenity in the marketplace,” said Melanie Chavez, a partner with Chavez Properties, which owns Fast Park. “As the number of EVs on the road continues to climb and the charging infrastructure and capabilities advance, the demand and charging needs of our guests are quite a bit different than they were 10 years ago. We’re evolving to meet tomorrow’s needs.”
With Power2Go, Fast Park’s FastCharge service will shift from a “park and charge” model to a high-powered, on-the-go-service, which will enable guests to “top off” their battery charge when they enter or exit the facility. The shift also will help to eliminate the capacity constraints faced with more EVs on the lot. Chavez cited that station usage data and guest feedback helped to inform this evolution.
Fast Park invested in the ChargePoint Express 250 station as part of Georgia Power’s Business Electric Vehicle Charger Program. As a top-ranked market for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Fast Park’s FastCharge service supports the region’s effort to grow the EV infrastructure for all Georgians. The company is using this robust EV market to test the user experience, address questions and make any necessary modifications as this service is rolled out to other Fast Park facilities around the county.
